What Emerging Trends do you see in Residential Architecture?

I think there is a trend to more open spaces and cleaner lines, with natural elements being used more in architecture as well as interior design.

What style of home do you see becoming more popular?

Contemporary is making a huge statement, even in Naples and we are beginning to see a greater variety of styles in our area. Mediterranean is still the dominant style but softer, cleaner European styles are gaining favor, as are British Colonial and Bermuda styles.

How is Design in SW Florida unique from other places?

We have so much natural beauty to play off of in our area, achieving the right balance between decorative and natural elements is a challenge. We also have people from all over the country and all over the world that bring their style, ideas and cultures with them to their homes in SW Florida.

Where are design influences coming from right now?

They seem to be coming from all over the world. We are seeing an even stronger Asian influence in modern and traditional, mid-century remains strong, and so does Classic Traditional, albeit a little “cleaned up”.

What Interior Design Trend will dominate the coming season?

A more relaxed and casual feeling will be seen in home design and décor. Expect to see more inviting and casual spaces. Fresh new colors like tangerine will be seen in accessories and accents.

How Often Does a Space need re-design?

We try to design spaces that can evolve with tastes, seasons and styles and can welcome new furniture, fixtures and colors. It’s good to add something new and fresh each season. However, sometimes, it’s just time for something totally different! That’s a very personal decision.

How do you work with your clients to discover their personal style?

From the first appointment, I try to learn how they live in their spaces, what their functions are, and who will be using them. My sense of design will come from their tastes and lifestyle.

What Part of the Design Budget is worth an all-out splurge?

Art. It can tell a story about you and your home and is worth the all out splurge.I feel passionately about what art can do for a space and the impact it can have on the occupants.
